ASICS Women's Gel Rocket 8 Volleyball Shoe Review

ASICS Women’s Gel Rocket 8 Volleyball Shoe is not only a longtime favorite of mine, but of beginners and intermediate volleyball athletes worldwide. These are the best women’s volleyball shoes because they are well-made and incredibly comfortable.

The Gel Rocket shoe is an advanced shoe that comes with a price tag that those just starting out won’t mind paying. The fit on this shoe is true to size and overall exceptional.

These are some of the best volleyball shoes to feature a low top, but won’t allow your ankles to roll. Most ASICS volleyball shoes come equipped with Trusstic System Technology.

In layman’s terms, this means that the shoe is manufactured synthetically, with lightweight material. However, it doesn’t affect the structure of the shoe. Though light and bouncy, the Gel Rocket is still structurally sound.

It will prove itself over and over again on the court. It will keep you comfortable without limiting movement.

ASICS includes a forefoot gel cushioning system that will absorb shock when you’re jumping, setting, sliding and popping from side to side. The gum rubber outsole will keep you from falling on your butt when you do all of the aforementioned.

These are absolutely the best volleyball shoes for women available. The comfort level is through the roof, and they’ll last you forever! My first pair lasted 5 years before I had to buy a new one.

Of course, I only play as a hobby twice a week – but I’d say that’s a high level of durability!

Minuzo Women's Wave Lightning Z3 Volleyball Shoe Review

The Minuzo Women’s Wave Lightning Z3 Volleyball Shoe is pretty incredible. Not only is it comfortable, but Minuzo has equipped it with a parallel wave plate (fancy, right?) that will keep you balanced during quick lateral movement.

We all know volleyball includes plenty of quick lateral movements! With this handy pair of sneakers, you’ll be able to scoot from side to side without losing your balance. This, in my opinion, makes them the best volleyball shoes for jumping as well.

My favorite aspect of the the Wave Lightning shoe is that the ankles are low cut but offer amazing support, and there is plenty of room to fit an ankle brace. I know that seems like an odd thing to get excited about, but I am a person who is ankle obsessed.

Ankles can be fragile and with all the back and forth of volleyball, I wear a brace on my right side all the time since I tend to land heavier on it. This shoe gives me plenty of room for my brace without a tight fit.

These sneakers are the best women’s volleyball shoes for practices and you’ll get years and years of use out of them. They’re a shoe rack staple for any volleyball buff!

ASICS Women's Gel Rocket 7 Volleyball Shoe Review

There is a reason that ASICS has dominated this list. They make the best women’s volleyball shoes because they absorb shock like no other, and those who play volleyball require shock absorbtion. Match made in heaven.

This sneaker has gel forefoot cushioning that will allow you to set and spike all you want. No matter how you land, this sneaker has your back.

The Gel Rocket 7 will give you sturdy but flexible ankle support, and enhanced traction for side to side movement. It was designed with the famous ASICS Trusstic system, which means super lightweight shoes with a sturdy structure.

You’ll find this to be a good shoe for recreational purposes, but there’s no reason you can’t wear them to play hard. Between the cushion and the structure you’ll be safe from injury and shin splints.

The gum rubber outsole is perfect for an increase in traction, while the rubber on the inner sole contains a high natural rubber content. This amped up traction makes the Gel 7 the best volleyball shoes for hitters. They hold up to lots of movement.

The Gel Rocket series by ASICS was the first pair of volleyball sneakers that I ever owned. I’ve played a lot with them over the years, but I always go back to where I came from.

These are easily some of the best volleyball shoes around!

ASICS Women's Gel Upcourt Volleyball Shoe Review

The pink version of this shoe is so unbelievably eye catching that it will be hard for you to take them off and put on something less…bright.

They are super fun to play in, and they look adorable with pretty much any volleyball short and tank. ASICS never disappoints when it comes to comfort.

With the Gel Upcourt you’ll enjoy rubber soles as well as gum rubber outsoles to keep your ankles safe and happy during every volley. You’ll find the gel cushioning located in the heel of this sneaker.

Due to the location of the gel, this volleyball shoe in particular is great for beginners, casual amateurs…and just might be the best volleyball shoes for libero positions. Others that experience more intense play might want a shoe with more cushion on the midsole.

The mesh underlays in the Upcourt will keep your feet cool and allow them to breathe. They’ll never be sitting in a pool of sweat. That is a major plus for you and also everyone in the locker room!

ADIDAS Original Crazyflight Bounce 2 Volleyball Shoe Review

I will admit, I am obsessed with ADIDAS Original Crazyflight Bounce 2 Volleyball Shoes. I play volleyball a few times a week, so I really have no business owning so many pairs of volleyball shoes. However, these had to be in my closet as soon as I tried them on because they are so comfy! These are some of the best volleyball shoes if you demand ultimate comfort.

I’ll make another confession here and disclose to you that while I’ve worn them quite a few times to play, I prefer to wear them off the court. They are comfy and they look amazing with leggings, ranking right up there as the best women’s volleyball shoes for wearing in everyday life!

But that’s not why we’re here.

You want to know how this shoe performs on the court, and the answer is…amazingly. It’s comfortable from the heel to the toes, with wonderful traction and a great cut.

The outer soles on this shoe are gum rubber, offering tons of control while you’re playing. You can pretty much take on any move in this sneaker, and be confident that you won’t fall.

The laces lock down, and the mesh part is reinforced with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) yarn to increase stability and decrease injury or bruising on the top of your foot.

If you’re a quick and intense player, then this shoe will certainly fulfill your needs.

NIKE Women's Volley Zoom Hyperspike Training Shoe Review

Though not quite as tailored as the other sneakers on our list, these shoes are by far the best women’s volleyball shoes made by Nike. They offer flywire technology throughout the upper part of the shoe, meaning that it will keep your foot stable while you move.

The gum rubber soles prevent your ankles and feet from turning and support quick side to side actions throughout play. I find that this particular pair of sneakers is fantastic for those who practice regularly in them, but wear a different shoe for games.

They aren’t the most durable volleyball sneakers available, and if you play in them at an intense and continuous level, you’ll see them start to wear out after about a year, possibly less.

Volleyball Shoe Buyer’s Guide

In general, volleyball doesn’t come with a ton of equipment. A ball, net, shorts and a good pair of shoes will do just fine. Oh, and some teammates too, but technically you can practice without them.

Unless you’ve decided to dedicate your time soley (no pun intended), to the world of beach volleyball, then you need to get yourself a good pair of sneakers. It’s best if you choose a pair that are made specifically for volleyball.

There are differences between running shoes, fashion sneakers and volleyball shoes. The surface in which one plays a game of volleyball is usually a basketball court. Volleyball is a sport where the athletes start and stop often so the best volleyball shoes have fantastic traction.

A true volleyball shoe is made with gum rubber soles that resist sliding when starting and stopping quickly, and moving from side to side as well.

You’ll find more cushion on the midsole of a volleyball sneaker. This is where players spend most of their time…on the balls of their feet waiting for a set or spike. A thicker midsole will decrease the chance of injury by absorbing shock.

That’s not something you’ll find in your run of the mill tennis shoe!

Volleyball shoes are lighter in weight than normal sneakers as well. This adds to athlete agility, and a bit of zip during play. If you purchase yourself a legit volleyball shoe, your feet will not be weighted down at all.

Purchasing a pair of volleyball shoes will always depend on what you think is comfortable, and what you intend to do with them. If you’re a beginner or laissez-faire volleyball participant, you probably don’t need a shoe for high intensity play. In this case, the Nike Hyperspike is perfect for you.

If you’re looking for a sneaker that will fulfill your intense need to play, if you’re in a club or on school team, then look no further than the ASICS Gel Rocket 8 or the ADIDAS Crazyflight. It’s important find a shoe that will give you exactly what you’re looking for.

The products provided here have covered pretty much everything, it’s up to you to decipher what will work best. If you’re still unsure, let’s break it down a bit more.

When I go out looking for a new shoe, I base it on a bit of criteria that I stick to during shopping. To make it into my closet, a new volleyball shoe must be durable, have a great deal of traction and fit correctly.

Durability: You want a shoe that’s going to last. Always read reviews before you venture out to shop. Do your research!

There is no purpose in purchasing the best volleyball shoes that turn out to rip at the seams after it’s first few outings. Look for synthetic materials – preferably mesh and leather. You want high quality, rubber soles and an overall sturdy structure to the shoe.

Durability often comes along with brand awareness, so don’t be afraid to go for the bigger brand names when you’re shopping for a volleyball shoe. This is one area in life where you’ll actually get what you pay for.

Traction: Most volleyball shoes today are made with gum rubber on the outside of sole, and high quality rubber in the middle. This links back to brand names, because you’ll find the higher the price the higher the quality.

Traction is essential in a volleyball shoe. You are moving too fast with about a zillion quick starts and stops to wear a shoe that will allow you to slide. It’s a safety issue. Never ever sweep traction under the rug.

It doesn’t matter how nice the shoe is or how well it fits you. No traction, no love.

Fit: Speaking of fit, don’t ever buy a shoe that doesn’t fit you! I know, it’s possible that you can break it in, but don’t rely on that during try on.

If you’ve got a shoe that’s too narrow or rubs your heel, chances are that shoe isn’t going to change. Shoes tend to be like people in that respect.

Your volleyball sneaker should fit snugly and make you feel supported, but should also be breathable and flexible on your foot. It has to move with you. Don’t quit until you find your fit.

That’s a little rhyme to shop by.

When all rationalization fails and you just can’t decide, my top pick is (and always will be), the ASICS Gel Rocket 8 Shoe. As a beginner, I had wonderful luck with the Gel Rocket series of ASICS shoes.

I was able to confidently learn form and movement without worrying about hurting myself. This is a huge plus, because you can place your feet and take chances during a volley without the fear of potential injury.

The Gel Rocket 8 is crazy comfortable, and I have never gotten a single blister while wearing it. They look great on, they’re not bulky and the gel cushion really does absorb shock like a dream. Clearly I can’t recommend them enough!

A good, sturdy and functional pair of volleyball shoes will help you to kick off your new hobby on the right foot (again, with the puns). You’ll look and feel like you know what you’re doing, even if you have no clue.

Keep it simple. Find a shoe you really like, and then make sure it fulfills the requirements of durability, traction control and fit to the level that you need.

You can’t go wrong with the Gel Rocket 8, but you have to do what works for you. Establish your budget and the time you plan on dedicating to your new volleyball hobby. I’m certain you’ll find the best volleyball shoes for you in no time!
