Griffin Double Keyboard and Laptop Stand Review

Many of us have experienced the frustration of not having anywhere to put your laptop when you’re playing the keyboard.

Whether you use the computer for music production, reading sheet music online or watching YouTube tutorials, you’re going to love this double keyboard and laptop stand from Griffin.

I love it because it gives you a great place to put your laptop, without having to worry about it falling down. It definitely solves a common problem and it’s just so much better than putting the laptop on a chair beside you.

The stand is really sturdy and stable, which I really like. I mean, if you’re going to put your expensive equipment on it you need something dependable. The rubber feet provide anti-slip protection, so you can use it on any floor.

Even though it’s a heavy-duty construction, it’s very portable. You simply fold it down until it’s a T-shape that is easy to carry.

And speaking of folding, the legs swivel inward and outward, which makes this stand work with most music equipment. This is excellent because if you ever spend lots of money on a new keyboard, the last thing you’ll feel like doing is buying a new stand as well.

One thing I hate about buying new things is putting them together. It’s just such an anti-climax to get your new stuff delivered but you have to spend hours trying to find the right tools and read complicated instructions. But with this stand there is no need to worry about assembly, it’s a piece of cake and doesn’t require any tools at all! Thank you, Griffin!

This is a terrific stand and I would highly recommend it in case you need a combined keyboard-laptop stand! It works well for your music projects at home, but also on gigs since it’s so easy to transport.

The price is low, the product is amazing and they even offer a 1-year full factory warranty, so there’s really nothing to lose!

Pros

  • Easy to assemble
  • Keyboard and laptop stand
  • Works with most equipment

Cons

  • No microphone arm

Knox Heavy Duty Adjustable Keyboard Stand Review

A keyboard stand is the kind of thing that you really need to use, but never want to think about. It should just be there and be so reliable that you can forget about it once you’ve put it together.

Knox Gear Z style keyboard stand is just like that. It’s designed to hold your keyboard, and that is exactly what it does. It doesn’t really have any features that make it much better than most other similar products, but it does what it says on the box.

Your keyboard won’t slip around, thanks to the foam pads on the front and back. This prevents damage to the instrument and means that you can focus on your music and not adjust the keyboard all the time.

There are fourteen different height settings and you can also adjust the width. This means that it works for any musician and any keyboard or digital piano. It’s absolutely perfect for kids that are growing!

One downside is that it’s not foldable. You have to take it apart if you are moving or want to bring it with you to band practice or concerts. For this reason, I would recommend that you only buy it if you are going to use it mostly at home.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • 14 Height settings
  • Adjustable width

Cons

  • Not foldable

Roland KS-18Z Keyboard Stand Review

One of my favorite brands when it comes to keyboards and digital pianos is Roland. They are known for making quality products and that reputation extends to their keyboard stands.

Roland KS-18Z is a Z style keyboard stand that is high-quality, offers adjustable height and width and fits all keyboards. What else could one ask for? I certainly don’t know!

The fact that it is a Z style makes it perfect if you play the keyboard sitting down. Cross style stands can sometimes be in the way when you use the pedal, but this model doesn’t have a low bar that gets in the way.

Roland KS-18Z is highly portable and folds easily so that you can transport it.

This is a superb option for all musicians that just want a stand that holds their keyboard and that they can bring with them.

Pros

  • High-quality
  • Adjustable height
  • Folds for easy transportation

    RockJam Xfinity Keyboard Stand Review

When kids start playing an instrument, it can be a costly experience. For instance, when they start playing the keyboard, they’ll need a keyboard, a stand, and sheet music, not to mention lessons.

Of course, it’s worth it to spend some money on a hobby that can enrich their lives and teach them valuable lessons and skills. But many parents hesitate to spend too much at the very beginning. After all, many new players remain beginners and stop playing after a year or so, and their instruments and equipment end up in the attic.

Since this is the case for many families, it’s good that there are keyboard stands like RockJam Xfinity. It doesn’t cost much, and the height is adjustable so that the kid doesn’t grow out of it.

It works for all full-sized keyboards and smaller ones as well, depending on the width. The lower you want the stand, the wider the keyboard has to be.

This is not the highest quality stand, but it is excellent value and fantastic for beginners as well as professionals on a budget.

    Pros

    • Affordable
    • Lightweight and portable
    • Folds for easy transportation

    Cons

    • Not the highest quality stand

    Keyboard Stands Buying Guide

Some of the hardest decisions are, according to me, choosing what product you should buy when all the alternatives seem more or less identical.

Keyboard stands definitely falls under this category. It would be easy to just think that they’re all identical and it doesn’t matter which one you choose.

But you still have to make a choice between the seemingly similar stands on the market. And when you start looking them up you’ll notice that they’re actually not all the same.

There is more than one way to skin a cat! Let’s take a look at the different kinds of keyboard stands there are and what you should think about when you buy one!

    X, Z or Mixer-Style

There are three different kinds of keyboard stands. The most common type, and usually the cheapest alternative, is the X-style stands. They’re called this because they are crossed like an X.

They are great for beginners since they’re so affordable, and you can often adjust the height and fold them completely. RockJam Xfinity is a good example of this.

The only thing that makes these stands inferior is that if you sit and play the bars might get in the way of your legs, especially if you play with a pedal.

Many customers ignore this fact because of the low price and learn to live with it. I personally think that it can be ok if you only play the keyboard once in a while. But if you practice while sitting every single day you should probably go for another design.

This brings us to the next kind of stand, the Z-style. The Z stands look like two Zs with a bar in between to keep them together. This is an excellent option if you still want your stand to be reasonably priced but want to avoid the X-style stands. Roland KS-18Z is one of the best Z-style keyboard stands on the market.

The last kind of stands is so-called mixer-style, that feature a desk-like design that is extremely stable. They’re perfect for the advanced or even professional musician who only wants the very best. They are generally more expensive, but they’re worth it!

My favorite of the stands I’ve reviewed is Griffin’s double stand that has room for both your keyboard and your laptop. It’s extremely handy to have somewhere to put the laptop, and if you have a smaller keyboard you want to have on the top rack, that works too.

You Get What You Pay For

It’s always tempting to go for the cheapest option, but the truth is that you do get what you pay for. If you know that you’re going to use the keyboard stand for many years to come, don’t only base your decision on the price tag, but think about what features you need.

Do you need it to be foldable? Which style of stand suits you best? Make sure that you know what you’re looking for before you make your purchase so you don’t have to get another stand within a few months.

If you follow these tips you can be sure to find a stand that holds your keyboard for many years to come.
